Leadership

For over 25 years I have tried to communicate to network marketers that the industry is about leadership and leadership development.  It has very little to do with sells or products or services. Companies and organizations rise and fall on based upon leadership.

Leadership and being politically correct don’t belong in the same ozone as far as I am concerned. You must know what you believe as it relates to how to build an organization and stick to your principals, concepts, and wisdom of the ages.

The network marketing world, the political world, the world in general needs more leaders!  Networkers, STOP READING BOOKS on Vitamins and Herbs and start reading books on Leadership!

Meet Maine 's New Governor – - – In case you haven't heard about this guy before, his name will stick in your mind!

The new Maine Governor, Paul LePage is making New Jersey 's Chris Christie look like an enabler. He isn't afraid to say what he thinks. Judging by the comments, every time he opens his mouth, his popularity goes up.

He brought down the house at his inauguration when he shook his fist toward the media box and said, "You're on notice! I've inherited a financially troubled State to run. Observe . . . cover what we do . . . but on't whine if I don't waste time responding to your every whim just for your amusement."

During his campaign for Governor, he was talking to commercial fishermen who are struggling because of federal fisheries rules. They complained that Obama brought his family to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park for a long Labor Day holiday and found time to meet with union leaders, but wouldn't talk to the fishermen. LePage replied, "I'd tell him to go to hell and get out of my State." The Lame Stream Media crucified LePage, but he jumped 6 points in the pre-election poll.

The Martin Luther King incident was a political sandbag, which brought him National exposure. The 'lame stream' media crucified him, but word on the street is very positive. The NAACP specifically asked LePage to spend MLK Day visiting black inmates at the Maine State Prison. He told them that he would meet with ALL inmates, regardless of race, if he were to visit the prison. The NAACP balked and then put out a news release claiming falsely that he refused to participate in any MLK events. He read it in the paper for the first time the next morning while being driven to an event and went ballistic because none of the reporters had called him for comment before running the NAACP release.

He arrived at that event and said in front of a TV camera, "If they want to play the race card on me they can kiss my ass!", and he reminded them that he has an adopted black son from Jamaica and that he attended the local MLK Breakfast every year that he was mayor of Waterville. (He started his morning there on MLK Day.)

He then stated that there's a right way and a wrong way to meet with the Governor, and he put all special interests on notice that press releases, media leaks, and all demonstrations would prove to be the wrong way. He said any other group, which acted like the NAACP could expect to be at the bottom of the Governor's priority list!

He then did the following, and judging from local radio talk show callers, his popularity increased even more: The State employees union complained because he waited until 3 P.M. before closing State offices and facilities and sending non-emergency personnel home during the last blizzard. The prior Governor would often close offices for the day with just a forecast before the first flakes. (Each time the State closes for snow, it costs the taxpayers about $1 million in wages for no work in return.)

LePage was CEO of the Marden's chain of discount family bargain retail stores before election as governor. He noted that State employees getting off work early could still find lots of retail stores open to shop. So, he put the State employees on notice by announcing: "If Marden's is open, Maine is open!"

He told State employees: "We live in Maine in the winter, for heaven's sake, and should know how to drive in it. Otherwise, apply for a State job in Florida !"

Governor LePage symbolizes what America needs! Refreshing politicians who aren't self-serving and who exhibit common sense.

THE LAW IS THE LAW!

I really love this one!!

This is one of the best e-mails I have received in a long time! I hope this makes its way around the USA several times over!!!!! HERE IS WHAT Governor LaPage said,

"THE LAW IS THE LAW So "if" the U.S. government determines that it is against the law for the words "under God" to be on our money, then, so be it.

And "if" that same government decides that the "Ten Commandments" are not to be used in or on a government installation, then, so be it.

I say, "so be it," because I would like to be a law- abiding U.S. citizen

I say, "so be it," because I would like to think that smarter people than I are in positions to make good decisions.

I would like to think that those people have the American public's best interests at heart.

BUT, he said, "YOU KNOW WHAT ELSE I'D LIKE?

Since we can't pray to God, can't Trust in God and cannot post His Commandments in Government buildings, I don't believe Government (Federal, State and Local) and its employees should participate in Easter and Christmas celebrations which honor the God that our government is eliminating from many facets of American life.

I'd like my mail delivered on Christmas, Good Friday, Thanksgiving and Easter. After all, it's just another day.

I'd like the" U.S. Supreme Court to be in session on Christmas, Good Friday, Thanksgiving and Easter as well as Sundays." After all, it's just another day.

I'd like the Senate and the House of Representatives to not have to worry about getting home for the "Christmas Break." After all it's just another day.

I'm thinking a lot of my taxpayer dollars could be saved, if all government offices and services would work on Christmas, Good Friday and Easter. It shouldn't cost any overtime since those would be just like any other day of the week to a government that is trying to be "politically correct."

In fact…. I think our government should work on Sundays (initially set aside for worshipping God . . .) because, after all, our government says that it should be just another day . . ."

What do you all think???? If this idea gets to enough people, maybe our elected officials will stop giving in to the "minority opinions" and begin, once again, to represent the "majority" of ALL of the American people!!

SO BE IT……….. Please, Dear Lord, Give us the help needed to keep you in our country! 'Amen' and 'Amen'!

If this gets around the country a few times, perhaps we will see a better day!!!

Ten years ago I can remember a conversation I had in Orlando, Florida with a marketing friend of mine.

The topic, when did it become ok to blatantly lie to people in your marketing and promotions?

Ten years later and it is worse than it has ever been. I had a conversation this week with a popular trainer who said Dale, if you don't promise people $10,000 a month in 30 days or less you can't even get their attention.

That is one of the reason you see all these mlm guru trainers promising people they will teach them how to sponsor 30 people in 30 days and other outlandish claims. Most people have to know that is not true, don’t they?

How can anybody make such a claim when they know nothing about the person, the company or the product or service!

Network Marketing is not the lottery.

Success in any industry or market does not come from luck or magic push button systems.

It comes when people develop the right mind sets and skill sets.   If people would stop wasting time and money chasing the magic bullet and  focus on identifying and learning the correct skill sets and mindset they would stop spinning their wheels and progress in their business.

It is a 3-5 year game plan to wealth IF you have great leadership, mentorship and you are with the right company at the right time in history.

Anyway, this is an article I found from corporate trainer Robert Wringer and I wanted to share it with you guys.

The Importance of Truthful Premises

Human beings have debated the ultimate purpose of life throughout recorded history. If one wanted to participate in this debate, he could make a persuasive argument that the ultimate purpose of life is to search for truth.

I say search rather than find, because to find truth in the broadest sense of the word would mean that one would have to know everything, and I think we can stipulate that omniscience and human beings don’t match up too well.

All actions, regardless of their nature, produce results. A bank robber gets results. A person who refuses to work and goes on welfare gets results. An individual who is inconsiderate and rude gets results. But these aren’t the kind of results most of us are after.

What we want are positive results, and positive results tend to flow from truth-based actions. Negative results, on the other hand, tend to flow from actions based on falsehoods or delusions.

Even if the whole world goes insane, you have a holy responsibility to yourself to perpetually search for truth. When people all around you are losing their heads, the surest way to keep yours is to be vigilant about basing your actions on truth.

I’m not talking here about the search for truth or a search for truth. What I’m referring to is your search for truth. When I write an article like this, it represents the results of my search for truth.

Whether you accept some, any, or all of my opinions, I will have accomplished my purpose if the results of my search for truth inspire you to embark upon, or intensify, your search for truth.

Truth is the best friend you will ever have, because, unlike people, it will never desert you in your time of need. Think of truth as a compass that points the way to actions that are in your long-term best interest.

This is why your search for truth must be ongoing and in conjunction with an action-oriented life. If you ever feel as though the Higher Power has not come through for you, it could be because your actions have not been in accordance with truth.

Unfortunately, truth is not an easy proposition. For one thing, truth can sometimes make you unpopular. In extreme cases, it has even cost people their lives. Bruno (burned at the stake as a heretic) and Socrates (forced to drink poison after being accused of corrupting youth by questioning tradition) are two well-known examples of this.

As a baseline, then, anyone searching for truth must desire truth more than popularity.

As we all know, fools are often among the most popular people in society, which is a good reason not to allow your search for truth to be stifled by the widespread delusions of the masses. This is precisely why you must learn to question everything, especially so-called conventional wisdom.

In the words of Buddha, “Believe nothing, no matter where you read it, or who said it, no matter if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense.”

All of life is based on universal principles, or laws. We cannot create or alter principles; we can only try to discover them, and, once discovered, find ways to use them to our advantage. A principle is a natural law that has always existed and will continue to exist as long as there is a universe. A principle is the essence of truth.

The foundational principle of the universe, as well as all aspects of secular life, is well known to everyone: Actions have consequences. If I push you (an action), something will happen; i.e., there will be a consequence. You may fall down, you may stumble, or, at the very least, you will feel pressure against your body. You also may get mad at me, walk away, or push me back.

The point is that I cannot escape the reality that my action, no matter how small, will have consequences. Where I start to invite problems into my life is when I delude myself into believing that I can push you without there being any consequence at all.

Believing that one can create his own principles is a futile and dangerous way to live life. Of course, a person has a perfect right to go on believing whatever he wants to believe, but truth isn’t discriminatory. It will mete out negative consequences just as harshly to a well-meaning, ignorant individual as to one who is malicious and self-delusive. Not once has truth excused anyone for being well meaning.

Put another way, truth is Stoic in nature; it doesn’t concern itself with human intentions. Truth overwhelms everything and everyone in its path. It matters not whether a violation of truth is intentional or a result of poor reasoning powers; in either case, truth yields the same consequences.

In the short term, of course, truth can be violated. A rational life, however, is based on taking actions that result in long-term success. Fortunately, history has repeatedly demonstrated that time is extremely kind to truth.

As Winston Churchill put it, “The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it and ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is.”

In simple terms, the more often your actions are based on truthful premises, the more likely you are to achieve success in both your business and personal life.

The responsibility of a network marketing leader is to
tell people the truth.

It appears that most people in the industry with leadership
titles have found that it is much easier to tell people what
they want to hear, not what they need to hear.

We should have cultures that inspire and challenge people
to grow, learn, and become better.  Instead we seem to be
telling people to have fun, watch TV, play on your lap top
and become rich.

Has the industry become a reflection of our culture?

About 15 years ago I saw this trend towards excepting
mediocrity begin in our industry.  Below is an article I wrote
for a publication that goes out to MLM company owners
and coporate officers.

Today, it appears that no one read it :) .  I would appreciate
your thoughts.  Am I missing something?

If you agree and this makes sense to you pass it along on
facebook or share it with your downline.

Network marketing should be a personal development program
with a comp plan attached.  Those who try to do it with the
skill sets and mindsets they enter the industry end up searching
for years for a company or product to make them successful.

They never are able to accpet responsibility for their own
personal education and work ethic.  They seem to blindly
follow their upline from deal to deal and never develop the
skill sets and mindsets of a network marketing professional.

Unfortunately many uplines, companies, and comp plans promote
these type of activities which ultimately guarantee mediocrity.

Most network marketers today don't have "7 years experience"
they simply have 1 BAD year, repeated 7 times.  We have to
take responsibility and inspire people to become better!
