FACEBOOK PHISHING SCAM
I just got an instant message on Facebook
from the account of one of our clients.
He told me he was in London, England, robbed
and gun point and everything was taken.
I offered to help and try to get him home.
He wanted me to wire money to him Western
Union, which was no problem. Then I thought,
what about his CLOSE FRIENDS AND FAMILY?
Why contact me?
So I asked him to call our office and we would
help, knowing that my real customer & client
would have our office number.
The response, my phone was stolen.
So I asked him his cell phone number, knowing
we have it in our system.
He never responded and 2 seconds later the entire
conversation was erased.
This appears to be a new phishing scream with Facebook
so just beware. It is possible when you IM
somone on facebook who you think is a friend, may
really be a con-artist.
